Current Projects

Study of Resentment and Heart Health

This study analyzes findings from multiple studies across the field to examine the relationship between resentment and cardiovascular activity (e.g., heart rate and blood pressure) and how this relationship differs for men and women.

Opportunities for Student Researchers

(1) Professional Conference Presentations - this project is a good opportunity for students who want practice writing and presenting research at a professional conference.

(2) Meta Analysis - under my supervision, upper-level students can receive training in meta-analytic techniques to see how scientists synthesize results from multiple studies. This may also be helpful if you are interested in working with qualitative data.

(3) Systematic Literature Reviews and Searches - a good opportunitiy to learn how to conduct in-depth reviews of scientific articles. Useful for students of all levels of experience (freshmen to seniors).

Study of Forgiveness and Heart Health

As a natural extension of the Resentment and Heart Health Study, this study aimed to examine the association between forgiveness and cardiovascular activity (e.g., blood pressure and heart rate). Research suggests that forgiveness may counter the negative effects of resentment on heart health, so the current study meta-analyzed results from multiple studies to examine how the association between forgiveness and cardiovascular activity differed for men and women.

Opportunities for Student Researchers

This study is closely tied to the Resentment and Heart Health Study and students are welcome to work on both if they are interested in both. The research tasks are also similar, although the content involves research from a separate literature/ body of work.
